HOW TO GIVE A GREAT AUDITION

Before the Audition

• Do your homework
• Dress appropriately
• Bring a photo/resume
• Do vocal & physical warm-ups at home
• Arrive early
  • Use restroom/touch up makeup/hair
  • Do preparation/relaxation/breathing exercises
  • Don’t chat with friends (until after your audition)
• Assume actor role
  • Businesslike & self confident
  • Pleasant & charming (smile; eye contact)
  • Happy & excited

During the Audition

• Make sure the auditors can see you.
  • Cheat out
  • Hold script at chest level (don’t cover your face)
• Make sure the auditors can hear you
  • volume (play to the back row)
  • diction (don’t drop the consonants)
  • speed (slow down)
• Follow directions
• Don’t make "mistakes"

After the Audition

• Smile and thank the auditors
• Don’t leave anything behind or ask questions
• Exit with self confidence
• Go home and eat ice cream
